In November last year, a group of 20 of us Sec 2s signed up for the Bright Ideas Challenge 2018.
We had to work together in groups of 4 or 5 to write a report on how we intended to solve an energy problem in 2050.
After bouncing off many different ideas amongst ourselves and with our teacher, we decided that we wanted to convert sound energy from noisy places into useful energy and hastily wrote our report just before the deadline!
Little did we know, Shell really liked our idea and we were chosen for the finals in January this year!
We had a chance to meet with our mentor from Science Centre and also our mentor from Shell. After taking in their valuable input, we worked very hard for 3 months on the prototype which illustrated our bright idea for the future!

Before we knew it the finals came and the two days we had been preparing for for months was upon us! We presented to hundreds of strangers to get their votes and also to our teachers and Sec 2 friends who came down to support us! We also presented our idea to a panel of judges and answered all their questions well. It was over! All our hard work paid off.

Then came the moment of truth, our hearts pounding as we awaited the results. We couldn't believe it, we won!!! We won for ourselves a trip to London!!
